the nimble naturalist
the nimble naturalist is a magazine created for my Typography III class.
A publication focusing on leading an environmentally conscious lifestyle, the nimble naturalist is an environmental magazine that caters to young adults seeking to improve their relationship with nature.
This semester-long project was an exercise in wordmark design and creative layout design.

My goal in creating this wordmark was to create something that encompassed the gentle, approachable nature of the nimble naturalist. To achieve this, I chose a soft typeface with and played with natural concepts to evoke the nimble nature of my publication.
Publication Design
Keeping with the gentle, approachable theme of the nimble naturalist, I chose to let the type float around the page throughout the issue.
I chose to use variants of just one typeface for the body of the magazine to simplify its layout, along with the use of muted colors to add more visual interest to the pages.
